MARTIAL ARTS FIGHTING CANCER - DONATION TO MAST
Members from Shuko Knockdown Karate, Head coach of Protea Kickboxing Association Alastair Hall and members from ShidokanAZ were present at the presentation of charity funds to the East Cheshire Hospital trust MAST appeal.
We handed over cheques to a value of £620, making the total raised an impressive £1240 after hall hire etc. A bit disappointing after last years £3050, but still very good. We hope we can get the figure up again next year. The total for the first three years is now well over £5000.
Shown left are Janet Ward from MAST, Jon Tilley charity coordinator for Martial arts fighting cancer, Rebecca, Phillipa, Matt, Emily, Alastair, Mike and Karthik.

Christies Teenage Cancer Trust demo. 19/4/03
A small Martial Arts team from Shuko Karate went up to Chisties hospital to do a small demonstration and class for the patients, staff and patients in remission. It was a great night and thanks to Lorraine for organising the event. We also handed over our cheque for £620 to Ben Jones from the teenage cancer trust. It was a great to meet the young people who are directly effected by this wide ranging and scary illness and obviously see the facilities that the money raised goes to support. I am not surprised to hear that the unit has excellent recovery rates as the spirit the young people have is fantastic, good luck to all of them.
Martial Arts super star Silvio Simac also sent some signed photos for all the people taking part. Thanks to him for that and hopefully next time Silvio is taking part in a seminar, fingers crossed.
We received an email from Lorraine that goes as follows
Dear Jon,
Just a quick email to 'Thank You' and your members for the fabulous self defence class you ran for us last week. It was very muched enjoyed by all and Emily especially even found the session therapeutic!!
It was very kind of you to take the time to come and visit us and it was very much appreciated by all. Thank you also for your tireless work for causes such as ours - your efforts really do make a difference. I hope we will be in contact in the future and I wish you all the best.
